Students, parents, and teachers are all integral parts of helping students develop their personal sense of honor in school life.
Three aspects of the honor code support the school’s theme of Building a Respectful Community.
First, students should respect their own words. They speak the truth, even when that truth involves accepting responsibility for infractions of school or community rules.
Second, students should respect their own property and the property(intellectual and tangible) of other individuals and of the school.
Third, students should respect themselves, as well as their fellow students and their teachers, in submitting their academic work.
These 3 fundamental ideas form our Honor Code Pledge: "As a student of Porter Gaud, I will not lie, cheat, or steal." Our Pledge is derived from a word full of historical and traditional meaning for PG:WATCH (Words, Actions, Character, Thoughts, Habits)
In situations where a student in brought before the Honor Council for an infraction, the Honor Council hears the trial and makes recommendations to the Upper School Principal, who ultimately makes all final decisions involving consequences or punishments. The Honor Council is student led , but does have 2 Faculty Advisors : Kim Reese and Doug Bergman
