Admissions Philosophy and Policies
Porter-Gaud School is an Episcopal, coeducational, independent, college-preparatory day school with a diverse student body. Porter-Gaud's admissions policies are established to support the School's mission. Our primary admissions goal is to determine if Porter-Gaud is the best fit for your child. The School seeks prospective students who will add to its ethnic, religious, and socio-economic diversity.
Porter-Gaud does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, or national origin, in the administration of educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid programs, athletic or other school-administered programs.
Elements of the Admissions Process
Grades 1 – 5 Candidates will be considered through a process that includes:
- a review of transcripts from the previous school

- admissions testing
- a Parent Questionnaire
· Grades 6 – 11 Candidates will be considered through a process that includes:
- a review of transcripts from the previous school
- current teacher recommendation forms (English and Math teachers and Principal or Guidance Counselor)
- admissions testing using the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)

It is strongly recommended that candidates shadow a day at Porter-Gaud.
Acceptance of a child does not imply that the School will assume the responsibility for all the special needs or accommodations for the child where such constitute a modification or alteration of the School's program.
Wait Pool
The three possible admissions outcomes are: acceptance into Porter-Gaud, placement in the wait pool, or denial for admission. These decisions will be mailed on March 4, 2013 in accordance with the date set by the Tri County Admissions Council. After a grade level is filled, the School will maintain an applicant waiting pool. Students in this pool will not be ranked. If an opening occurs, the School will review the files of all applicants for that grade and make a decision.

- Enrollment agreement/deposit due back by March 11, 2013
