Which piece of the admissions process is the most important? Hide

The standard admissions process at Porter-Gaud consists of completing an application, standardized testing, grade level testing materials, teacher recommendations and complete transcripts from all previous schools. All of the above components are weighted equally.

Should we visit the campus prior to testing? Hide

While this is not a required component of our admissions process, it is highly recommended. A campus visit can answer many questions that you might have about Porter-Gaud.

Do I need letters of reference? Hide

Porter-Gaud requires teacher recommendations not letters of reference from community members.

Do I need to get on the waiting list to be tested? Hide

Porter-Gaud does not have a waiting list for testing applicants. We encourage families to apply early in the fall prior to the year of entrance. We test for acceptance and want current information on all of our applicants.

Do families with siblings have priority? Hide

Having siblings at Porter-Gaud is a factor in the admissions decision, provided that the sibling is a qualified candidate.

Where do most Porter-Gaud families live? Hide

Our student population comes from all over the tri-county area, with some families commuting from as far away as Walterboro.

When are offers of acceptance sent out? Hide

Typically, letters of acceptance for grades 1-11 are sent out the first week of March. Kindergarten letters are sent out a few weeks earlier than this date.
