20th Annual Alumni Golf Tournament slated for June 9th

The Porter-Gaud Alumni Association will hold their 20th Annual Golf Classic on Saturday, June 9, 2012. The Porter-Gaud Alumni Association golf tournament serves as the main fundraiser for the PGAA Scholarship Fund. The tournament will take place at Cougar Point on Kiawah Island with a shotgun start at 10:30 am.

A good time was had by all at the 2011 All Alumni Reunion Party at the Grimball House. Over 200 Alunni and guests enjoyed the great food and drinks under the oaks while reliving old memories and catching up with classmates.

Stephanie Bainum '05 Speaks to Computer Students

Stefanie Bainum, Class of 2005, came back to talk to the computer classes about technology and its place in journalism. She graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelors in Communication and Political Science and is currently getting her Masters in International Journalism in London. She joked with the students about not being a computer nerd, but loved the possibilities that technology brings as she considers entering the job market. She said she now wishes she had taken more computer courses at PG because she sees their enormous value. In her area of expertise, the person who is in on top of technology is quite simply going to be more successful! Stefanie says that new devices such as the Apple iPad add tremendous potential to what reporters in the journalism field can do. Communication, connection, and online presence is so important in her world, and she encouraged students to become savvy in all the Web 2.0 technologies such as blogging, social networking, and Twitter.
