We’re launching the 40th annual Porter-Gaud Christmas Toy Drive to help ensure every child in the Charleston area has an opportunity to experience the joy and magic of the holiday season. All students are invited to bring a gift or toy to school between December 8-12 and deposit it in the boxes located in each homeroom. We ask that all items be new, as this may be the only gift some of the children receive this holiday season. All gifts and toys should be unwrapped to facilitate easier sorting and distribution. Our gift request lists this year include ages from infant to 14 years.

Gift suggestions 

• Toiletries, batteries, hats and gloves, new coats, socks, blankets, or gift cards to restaurants, Walmart, Target, or local grocery stores. 

Toy suggestions

• Legos, educational toys, board games, dolls (ethnic dolls needed), sports balls, handheld electronic games, craft sets, infant toys, makeup sets and costume jewelry, stuffed animals, Play-Doh sets, puzzles, toy vehicles, baby toys, and new books.

This year, we have received special requests from several organizations for basic necessities and essentials, including toiletries and warm clothing, as well as educational toys and gift cards for teenagers in the foster care system.

We will share your gifts with the following local organizations: Kay Phillips Child Advocacy Center, Citadel Holiday Drive, Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, HALOS, Pink House, Landmarks for Families, My Sister's House, and Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. Your generosity can make a world of difference, helping to ensure that every family can share in this festive season.
