The Porter-Gaud School Fine Arts Department offers all students in all grades opportunities for instruction and creative expression in the visual, dramatic, and musical arts. It is the department’s goal to instill in Porter-Gaud students not only an appreciation for the fine arts, but also the skills necessary to use the arts as unique forms of expression. We seek to accomplish these goals by providing the students with classroom instruction in the rudiments of musical, theatrical and visual arts as well as opportunities to highlight their talents in many different venues. Every student at Porter-Gaud School is encouraged to participate in the Fine Arts Department as it seeks to strengthen the Porter-Gaud community.

The Fine Arts Department, in addition to the numerous daily activities, sponsors the all-school Christmas Sing-a-Long Concert, performs at various off campus sights, participates in the Holiday Market, supports inter-curricular studies such as: Election Day, Carolina in the Morning, dedication of buildings, alumni functions, and special events like Grandparent’s Day.

In April of 1980, Porter-Gaud dedicated the Berkeley Grimball Center for the Arts. This 10,000 square foot building and Gwynette Hall are the centers for creative instruction and expression at Porter-Gaud.
