Computer Science Chair David Renton received the 2021 Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE) Award. This is his 9th year receiving the distinction.
Every year, Microsoft awards educators who are self-driven, passionate, and inspire students with creative thinking, and work in a collaborative spirit to share their learning with the world. Resourceful and entrepreneurial, MIEE award winners relish the role of change agent, and work to achieve excellence in education using Microsoft technologies paired with innovative teaching.
"I will forever be grateful to this program as it changed my life, as it took me in Barcelona for the Global Microsoft Education Forum in 2014 where I met a certain Doug Bergman and without that I certainly would not now be teaching at Porter-Gaud," says Renton.
Renton's application focused his students' work with Windows10 laptops, Windows MR headsets, Virtual Reality, Unity, Visual Studio using C#. He also included the senior group projects over the past few years.
Renton was only one of three faculty selected from South Carolina for the MIEE award.
