"What Haunts Us" Information
To Our Alumni:
Alumna Paige Goldberg Tolmach's film, What Haunts Us, will be screening at the Terrace Theater Film Festival March 17-18. For more information on the screenings, click here.
The film tells the story of the sexual abuse committed by former Porter-Gaud teacher Eddie Fischer from 1972 until 1982 and the School’s ineffective handling of the allegations.
We deeply regret this painful part of our past and the poor manner in which the School treated the victims. To those victims and their families, we offer our sincerest and most heartfelt apology, knowing full well that no apology will ever return to them what was so horribly taken away. The abuse endured by Fischer’s victims and the lifelong impact it has had on them is not forgotten: their experiences have guided our actions, shaped Porter-Gaud’s current and future safeguards and policies, and heightened our vigilance.
Our students' protection and well-being remain our greatest priority, and we continue to evaluate every way that we can safeguard our students to the fullest extent.
Please feel free to contact me if I can answer any questions about our commitment to uphold this sacred promise.
