2026 Junior-Senior Prom Information

Dear Upper School Parents and Families,

The 2026 Junior–Senior Prom with its Light Up The Night theme will be held this Saturday, April 18, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at The Waverly, 94 Stuart Street Road, in downtown Charleston. We want to thank our Upper School Prom Committee and especially their faculty advisor, Ms. Kuchler, for spearheading and organizing this year’s prom. We will adhere to the following guidelines:

There is a parking lot at the Waverly that will have plenty of parking. As a general reminder, students should not leave any valuables in their car and be sure to lock their car before heading to the dance.
All students are required to present their QR code ticket to check in. Please have tickets ready upon arrival.
For security reasons, any student or guest carrying a bag may be subject to a search.
Students must check in with a faculty chaperone at 7:30 p.m. Entry will close at 8 p.m. We require students to remain at the Prom until the dance concludes at 10 p.m.
If an emergency arises that will cause your son or daughter to be a few minutes late, they must get permission to arrive late by calling Ms. Davis at 843-402-4838. Otherwise, students who arrive after 8 p.m. will not be permitted to attend. In that case, we will make every effort to contact parents by phone so there is no confusion about your child’s whereabouts.
Outside guests are permitted to attend as long as a guest form was completed and submitted by the deadline on Thursday, April 2.
Please remind your student(s) of the School’s policy regarding alcohol and drugs. We must maintain an environment that nurtures and protects our students. Students should not engage in any inappropriate or illegal pre-dance or post-dance behavior.
For the safety and welfare of our students, we want to remind you that prior to admission to the dance, we will conduct random breathalyzer tests. Once in line, students will select a card that will determine if they will be tested. Should any student or guest test above 0.00% BAC, the student and guest’s parents will be contacted and required to pick up their child and/or guest. Further sanctions, including school disciplinary action, will be discussed on Monday, April 21. In addition, students will be randomly selected at various points during the dance for testing. The DJ will announce a list of names that must be breathalyzed at that time.
Faculty and administrators will serve as chaperones, and Charleston Police officers will also be on site. The decision and authority of a law enforcement officer supersede that of any School official. The officers may also have breathalyzers on hand.

We also want to make you aware of the following:

A variety of snacks and desserts will be served during the event. These items were not prepared in a nut-free facility.
Strobe lighting and flashing lights will be used during this event. If this is a concern, please contact us.

We all look forward to a safe and fun-filled night. Thank you for your partnership in helping our students to experience joyous memories that will last a lifetime. We want the end of the year to be a series of bright moments for our students, and, in particular, our Class of 2026.
