Spelling Bee

Dear Third and Fourth Grade Parents and Caregivers, 

Porter-Gaud is participating in the SCISA Spelling Bee this year, and all third through eighth-grade students have the opportunity to compete. Participation is voluntary – no one is required to take part in the competition – but all are welcome. Please complete this form only if your child is interested in participating in the Spelling Bee.

• The Qualifying Round of the Spelling Bee will be on Tuesday, November 11.

• Students will compete against students from their own grade.

• We will not send home any lists to study for the grade-level competitions.

• The winner of round one will go to the SCISA competition. The runner up will be our alternate in case our winner can not compete at the last minute.

• The Third Grade round will be held during afternoon homeroom time.  

• The Fourth Grade round will be held from 2:30-3:20 p.m. If your fourth grade child plans to participate, please arrive in the carpool circle between 3:15-3:30 p.m. Bus riders will be dismissed to the bus before it departs.

• The SCISA Spelling Bee Regional Competition will be held on Tuesday, December 2, at 9 a.m. at Orangeburg Prep in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Parents of participating students must provide transportation and attend with their child on Tuesday, December 2, in Orangeburg.
