Peer Leadership Lunch MondayWe will have a peer leadership lunch on Monday. All 9th graders and peer leaders should grab lunch and then meet their peer group. Honor Council Assembly & Honor Board SigningsOn Monday during community, we will have an assembly led by the Honor Council. Please go straight to Gwynette following F block. This week, 11th, 10th, and 9th-grade students will participate in the Porter-Gaud tradition of signing their name to the Honor Board. This simple yet important tradition marks your commitment to upholding honor at Porter-Gaud. This mandatory commitment will take place on the following lunches in the library at 1:30 p.m. 11th Grade - Wednesday 10th Grade - Thursday 9th Grade - Friday Changes in lunch order this weekDue to the peer leadership lunch on Monday and the honor board signings this week, we will adjust the order of students entering the cafeteria most days. All times are approximate based on the lines in the cafeteria. Monday - 1:00 - 12th grade, 9th grade, and 11th grade peer leaders 1:10 - 11th grade, 1:15 - 10th grade Tuesday - 1:00 - 12th grade, 11th grade, and any students attending student conference lunch & learn, 1:10 - 10th grade, 1:15 - 9th grade Wednesday - 1:00 - 12th & 11th grade, 1:10 - 10th grade, 1:15 - 9th grade Thursday - 1:00 12th grade & 10th grade, 1:10 - 11th grade, 1:15 - 9th grade Friday - 1:00 - 12th & 9th grade 1:10 - 11th grade, 1:15 - 10th grade Cafeteria Items & Stadium Clean-upWe have lost a significant number of plates, bowls, cups, and silverware over the first three weeks that are not being returned to the dishwasher in the cafeteria. If you plan to leave the cafeteria, please use disposable items or return any reusable items to the cafeteria each time. If the loss continues, students will be required to eat all lunches in the cafeteria. Also, the student section in the stadium was covered in trash after our first home game. Students need to dispose of their trash anywhere on campus. If you leave trash behind, know that Mrs. Davis, Mr. Hilpert, Mr. Wilson, Ms. Carney, and other faculty & staff members will be forced to clean up after you. Service this WeekMonday - Extended day helpers begin. Meet in the cafeteria as soon as you are able. Email Brett or Tillman with questions. Look for the binder to sign in when you arrive! Tuesday - Meet at the flagpole after school to help set up American flags in honor of 9/11. Wednesday - Meet outside Ms. Tate's office at 3:20 p.m. to pack Ronald McDonald House on-the-go meal bags. Email Charlotte, Paige, or Sarah with questions. We are hosting this project in honor of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance. Thursday - Volunteers are needed at the Veterans House Fisher House after school to help pack their outdoor storage shed. Email Elle or Finley to sign up or if you have any questions. Student Conferences Lunch & LearnAny students interested in applying to attend a conference this year should plan to attend a lunch and learn on Tuesday, September 10th. HBCU Breakfast - September 11We are thrilled to announce that, for the third consecutive year, Porter-Gaud will host the HBCU Breakfast for all families and students. This special event will take place on Wednesday, September 11, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are institutions established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 with the primary mission of educating Black Americans. HBCUs have a rich history of academic excellence, cultural significance, and community impact, providing a nurturing environment where students can thrive. We are highlighting 2 athletic events with Spirit Themes: Volleyball Tuesday: SuperCyclone Football Friday: Tropical For the theme Tropical, we suggest floral printed clothing, colored shorts or men’s bathing suit trunks, sunglasses, floaties, straw hats, and flower necklaces. Ladies, do not wear swimsuit tops or bikinis. Boys must also wear shirts. Grass skirts must have shorts underneath. Detention this WeekStudents with detentions may serve on Monday from 3:25 - 3:55, Tuesday from 7:45 - 8:15, and Thursday from 3:25 - 3:55.
