Personal Technology Policy Reminder

If you bring your personal technology to campus, you must use your Yondr pouch each day and lock it at the beginning of the day. 

Headphones may only be used for a school-specific use with the permission of a faculty member. They should not be used during free periods and study halls to listen to music.

2025 English Department Writing Contest

Every year, the PG English Department holds a Writing Contest for the Upper School, and I'd like to announce the details for 2025. This year, we have four categories for submission: poetry, short fiction, academic essays, and personal essays. Please note the distinction between the personal and analytical essay categories: personal essays might consist of pieces like college-application statements or autobiographical sketches or reflections; academic essays, by contrast, are submissions that argue, analyze, or explain (i.e., an essay with a thesis statement). You may submit work that you've handed in for a class or work that you've accomplished on your own, and you're free to meet with a teacher for feedback before you submit your piece. Please note the following details:

• Students may submit THREE pieces TOTAL to the contest, not three per category. You may divide those submissions however you'd like: two poems and one personal essay, for instance.

• The deadline for submission is Friday, February 21st at 3:20 p.m. (after Winter Break). That's four weeks from today.

Prom Committee

We are looking for any Juniors wanting to join the 2025 prom committee! We will hold our first meeting this Monday, Feb 10th, during community in Ms. Kuchler's room 303. 

This is a commitment, where you will help plan, decorate, make decisions, set up playlists, and everything in between.

Service this Week

  Monday - Sign up to be a Spring Student Recycler! Email Griffin or Coleman to sign-up and they will send you your classroom assignment. This is an important opportunity on campus and we need good recyclers! Four service hours per semester. 

Tuesday - Canterbury House BINGO! 3:45-4:30 p.m. and yes, you can leave early for spring sports practices if needed. You will enjoy every minute of your time with the residents there! Email Carter, Harper Phillips, or Paige Deering for a ride. 

Wednesday - WINGS mentoring program. It is such a fun mentoring opportunity. You can also go any weekday and stay for as long as you can. Email Mirabelle, Blair, or Isabelle to sign up or for more information. 

Wednesday - Pet Helpers from 3:45-4:30 p.m. Email Camille or Erin to sign up! 

Wednesday - Special Valentine Project Packing for Star Gospel Mission residents. Meet outside Ms. Tate's office after school. Email Woods with any questions. 

Thursday - Charitable Snack Sale for Water Mission to support our Walk for Water team! Snacks will be sold from 11:20-11:35 outside Ms. Tate's office. Email Charlotte or Madison with questions.

11th Grade Updates

• Complete your surveys in SCOIR! 

• If you have completed your SCOIR survey, now is the time to schedule your second meeting with your counselor. You can schedule here. This is a meeting with just you and your counselor to go over survey results and introduce College Kickstart.

10th Grade Updates

• If you haven't yet, please make sure you complete your aptitude test in YouScience. This is what we talked about in the Cookies & Cocoa sessions. 

• If you did not finish filling in your answer sheet for the Pre-ACT during the Pre-Administration, please come to the College Counseling Office during the Make-Up date on Tuesday, February 11 during Lunch. You will be communicated with directly if you need to come finish filling out the sheet. 

9th Grade Updates

• The Digital Readiness Check for the PSAT 8/9 is happening Friday, February 14 from 10:45-11:30 a.m. during Community. This is required and will be in Gwynette Auditorium. 

• Before the Digital Readiness Check for the PSAT 8/9, please open up the Bluebook app on your computer. This is needed so the app will complete automatic updates. You don't need to do anything other than open the app.
