Meet the Team

Ken Hyde serves as the Director of Admission and Enrollment at Porter-Gaud School overseeing the enrollment management program. He has over 25 years professional experience in independent schools ranging from teacher, coach, advisor, dorm head, dean of students, and presently, enrollment professional.  Ken earned a BA in Economics from UNC at Chapel Hill and his Masters in School Administration from UNC at Greensboro. He is married to Holly, a Spanish teacher at Porter-Gaud, and has two daughters, Anne and Margaret that attend the school.
 


Lauren McClary serves as Associate Director of Admission and Enrollment at Porter-Gaud School. Lauren attended Vanderbilt University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Studies and The University of South Carolina School of Law where she earned a Juris-Doctor.  Lauren began her career as an employment attorney, and eventually as an HR Director at Roper St. Francis Healthcare. Lauren began volunteering with the Porter-Gaud Admission Team at their Open Houses and this experience inspired her to join the team in 2018 when she decided to return to work full-time. Lauren and her husband Scott have been Porter-Gaud proud parents for 9 years and they have two children: Phillip (Grade 10) and Jane (Grade 8), who have both been at Porter-Gaud since first grade. She and her family are avid Colorado snow skiers and enjoy boating, crabbing, and hiking the North Carolina Mountains in the summer. 

 

Kathleen Beck serves as Application Process and Event Coordinator and is responsible for guiding families through the application process. Kathleen began her work career as an Early Childhood Teacher in public schools, and returned to work in the education world in August of 2015. Kathleen also previously worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for UCB Pharma. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in Early Childhood Education. She has two children at Porter-Gaud, Noah in the 11th grade and Hadley-Claire in 9th. Kathleen and her family take full advantage of Lowcountry life, and relish exploring our waterways and surrounding coastal areas with their two dogs as often as possible.


Phyllis Anderson serves as the Office Manager and Testing Coordinator for the Admission Team. Phyllis attended Winthrop University where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught 2nd and 3rd grade in the Charleston County School District for three years. Phyllis received her Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from The University of Alabama while teaching. She then went on to work as a program coordinator for a literacy nonprofit, Reading Partners, which worked with volunteers to bridge the reading gap in Charleston and Berkeley county schools. Phyllis loves spending her weekends on the beach and exploring the Charleston area with her pup, Scooter.
